Libraries Without Borders is an international non-profit dedicated to expanding access to information, educational, and cultural resources for vulnerable and marginalized communities around the world. Our Washington, D.C. office is looking for a Program Associate Intern for the summer 2018. As a Program Associate Intern, your primary responsibilities will include: - Providing general support to the Executive Director and to the Director of Communications and Advocacy - General administrative tasks around the office; coordinating and organizing logistics - Drafting letters of inquiry and grant requests - Researching funding opportunities and grants - Putting together briefs and taking notes - Providing assistance at events on an as-needed basis - Coordinating with our teams in the field and in our Paris headquarters Preferred Availability: Minimum of eight weeks over the summer. Candidate must be able to come to our office in DC 15 to 20 hours per week; this is a full time internship. Some work may be completed remotely. Stipend : Please note that, as we are a non-profit organization, this is an unpaid internship. Depending on the academic policies of your school, you may be eligible to receive school credit for this internship. We will also gladly provide you with a letter of recommendation upon the completion of your internship.

The internship will provide an opportunity to assist in financial and administrative functions. The intern will also gain a general overview of the Japan Society�s programs and events. Our headoffice is located in Washington but we have other atleast 15 offices within the states. We are in need of an intern who will be helping out with administrative works. Disciplines Landscape Architecture, Historic Site Interpretation, Ecological Interpretation, Horticulture, Landscape Management and Landscape Maintenance Description The Fells Historic Estate and Gardens is located on Lake Sunapee in Newbury, NH. It was established in the 1890�s, as a summer retreat, by statesman and diplomat John Milton Hay. After Clarence and Alice Hay inherited the house and property from John Hay, they developed the gardens into a New Hampshire lakeside estate. These historic gardens include: a walled woodland shade garden, a walled rose garden terrace, a perennial border, and a rock garden. Naturalistic gardens include a wildflower meadow and a wildflower woodland walk. Responsibilities This internship is a hands-on opportunity to learn about the day-to-day care of a historic public garden. Daily tasks include, but are not limited to: planting, transplanting, digging, dividing, fertilizing, mowing, trimming, watering, weeding, pruning, brush removal, pest management and waste disposal. Interns also work with and/or direct volunteers, conduct garden tours and trail walks, and assist with special events. Additionally, Interns work with the Landscape Director on a site-based project. These projects have involved historical research, record keeping and plant identification. Interns have created presentation drawings, ecology-based nature trail interpretive materials, garden guides and landscape management plans. Possible projects for this summer include: developing an educational smartphone application for identifying plants in our gardens; renovating a site through invasive species removal and replanting with natives; and creating plans and a cost estimate for a rain garden at the historic cottage site.

Housing Works is seeking a talented and passionate Media and Communications intern to bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to the organization from January through May 2018. Applicants should have availability at least 2 full days a week and the ability to travel to Downtown Brooklyn. The Media and Communications intern will work directly with the Marketing Manager in all facets of Housing Works� marketing initiatives for major fundraisers, retail businesses, external partnerships and Housing Works Community Healthcare campaigns. Applicants should be upbeat, with a creative mind that can bring innovative ideas to the table and strong writing skills that can provide captivating pitches and social media content. Experience with photography and film is preferred but not required.
