Home *** adds absolutely no antibiotics or dyes in the grow out process of the fish nor do we use any synthetic nutrients, herbicides, fungicides or pesticides on our produce. Home *** Farm and Market is heated and electricity is generated using vegetable oil we collect from area businesses.

Candidate will be part of our multi-faceted operation from oil collection, to making bio-diesel to gardening, harvesting, marketing and delivery. Candidates will learn about aquaculture, aquaponics, gardening, vermiculture, composting methods, as well as how to make bio-diesel.

Multiple positions available in the following development Research and Development areas: synthetic chemistry, immunology and formulation development. Approximately 80% of time is spent in the laboratory standing or moving between work stations. Balance of time is spent seated while working at a computer or in meetings. Actual duties will depend on area of the position, but in general, responsibilities will include the performance of routine analytical methods, assisting with process and/or assay development studies, documenting results in notebooks and/or development reports, and presenting results to the development teams. Generally available from early June to mid-August.

The objective of this project is to evaluate the plant, soil, and water phosphorus (P) implications of applying domestic wastewater residuals (biosolids), animal manure, and water treatment residuals to south-central Florida cattle pastures.  This objective will be met by undertaking a three-year field study in which a biosolids and a chicken manure are applied at different treatment levels, with and without water treatment residuals, on half-acre pastureland plots in the Lake Okeechobee Basin.  The project includes sampling and measurement of waste products, soils, surface and ground waters, and vegetation for phosphorus accumulation and transport indicators.  Results will be assembled and recommendations formulated on appropriate application rates of the tested waste materials.  Planning, results and recommendations will be discussed with the public in two educational workshops.

Valley Shepherd dairy is looking for Production (cheese making) and marketing interns for the spring/summer season starting as early as April but not later then June and ending November end, 2009.  We are near N.Y.C., housing provided at the farm, paid internship !   We will help with your J1 visa papers.   2008 interns were from Slovakia, Austria, France, Germany and Mongolia!
   For the DS-2019, possible school curriculum would include agriculture, marketing, production and similar.
