The Environmental Education and Animal Behavior Internship is designed to give college students practical experience in animal observation, education, and conservation. This program also includes the opportunity to gain a broad insight to the Zoo community and how it operates. You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the Zoo everyday while providing an educational experience to our guests. •Animal Observation and Monitoring - Under the supervision of the intern manager and working with members of our animal staff, interns are responsible for the monitoring and observation of the animals in various locations in the Zoo. Each intern is also responsible for the development and execution of an individual observation project designed to assist the Zoo in gathering information on the behaviors of a specific in-house species. •Zoo-wide Interpretation. Through formal presentations, informal conversations and research activities, interns will interpret many of the daily activities that take place in the Zoo. Interns participate in daily talks and interpretation of animal feeding and training demonstrations throughout the Zoo. Interns also staff “Exploration Stations” strategically located throughout the Zoo. Each station is equipped with interactive activities or biofacts (skins, skulls, teeth, etc.) relating to a specific animal and its conservation. Interns encourage visitors to participate, touch, and ask questions that will increase their knowledge of the animals in the Zoo. •Meet Zoo Professionals. This internship will provide the opportunity to meet professionals in the Zoo field from Keepers to Veterinarians to Conservationists in order to learn how the Zoo works and how they achieved their careers. The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) drives principled solutions through rigorous analysis, reasoned negotiation, and respectful dialogue.  Founded in 2007 by former Senate Majority Leaders Howard Baker, Tom Daschle, Bob Dole and George Mitchell, the BPC combines politically-balanced policymaking with strong, proactive advocacy and outreach.

As the only Washington, DC-based think tank that actively promotes bipartisanship, the BPC works to address the key challenges facing the nation.  Our policy solutions are the product of informed deliberations by former elected and appointed officials, business and labor leaders, and academics and advocates who represent both ends of the political spectrum.  We are currently focused on health and nutrition, energy, foreign affairs and homeland security, housing, the economy, and democracy.

Further, the BPC is committed to seeing our policy solutions enacted by lawmakers. Through the Bipartisan Policy Center Advocacy Network (BPCAN), our (c)(4) affiliate, we engage in advocacy and strategic outreach and education to bolster the legislative center and support efforts that bring Republicans and Democrats together on the difficult issues facing the country.

The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) offers full-time summer, and part-time fall and spring internships each academic semester. Qualified candidates will be highly motivated and energetic self-starters. Fall & Spring Programs

The fall and spring internship programs at the BPC are flexible, allowing students to gain valuable experience while maintaining their regular class schedules. Interns will provide functional support, conduct research, and work directly with project analysts and staff in various capacities.

Summer Program

BPC has a robust summer internship program. Summer interns are paid $12.50/hour for up to 10 weeks of work (cap of $5000). Interns work full time and are assigned to a specific BPC project or functional area. Summer interns are not required to be enrolled in school at the time of application. Non-U.S. citizens are eligible to apply, but must have a valid work permit or visa verifying eligibility to work in the United States. We do not offer visa sponsorship.

Interns provide administrative support, assist with events and meetings, conduct research and assist with the development and writing of reports, white papers and proposals. While interns work closely with their project teams, there are also opportunities to learn from and be exposed to the wide range of issues addressed by the organization.
